Our brief

Greg is responsible for planning the maintenance function, over-seeing completion of contracts to Housing Association quality standards, and assessing the stock condition surveys. One of his biggest challenges was achieving key targets through his team of three officers. Following a pre-programme one-to-one assessment he identified a need to improve his personal effectiveness through influencing and motivating others.

The Solution

Greg joined an open Personal Management Skills programme, which was delivered through a series of  seven half-day workshops, one-to-one coaching sessions and a Making a Difference business project. For his business project he chose to pro-actively reduce the planned maintenance budget on current projects by 5%. This project would create the environment in which he could actively apply a range of tools and techniques to set SMART objectives and influence both directs and contractors.

The Outcome

Having launched the project with the team in March 2009, initial short term objectives were achieved on time. Greg is currently working on the next stage of the project, and by closely monitoring and motivating his team, they are working positively towards achieving their September target.
