Our brief

One of Charlotte’s biggest challenges was gaining credibility for her ideas during meetings with the senior team. During her pre-programme one to one assessment, with the programme tutor she defined three personal objectives. These were; influencing others, leading people and holding others accountable.

The Solution

Charlotte commenced a programme based on our Effective Management Skills programme.  This was an internal bespoke programme designed for delivery to Middle Managers at the organisation for which she worked.  The programme involved a series of ten half day workshops, one-to-one coaching and the implementation of a Making a Difference business project. Charlotte’s business project was to implement a year long rolling programme to increase staff awareness of pension issues. The success of the project would be measured by her ability to persuade and influence all staff to attend, provide feedback and take action.

The Outcome

Before Charlotte could implement any of her ideas she first had to gain buy-in from the Senior HR Team. This meant that she had to be competent  in her knowledge of the pension scheme issues and legislation, as well as being confident to use her newly gained skills to influence the Senior Management team of the benefits of  the programme. Having successfully achieved the first part of her plan, she now plans to run a series of supplemental workshops throughout the summer.

Delegates Comments

“My personal challenges have been in gaining understanding and commitment from others, and being able to persuade and influence people that pensions are not just for retirement! On reflection I can see how by adapting my interpersonal relationships with Senior Managers and my peers allowed me to gain their buy-in”
